The Vedic Meditation Course · Gold Coast
Five sessions taught privately in Currumbin Valley. By the end you're completely self-sufficient — with the technique, the understanding, and ongoing support as your practice grows.
What this course is
This is different because Vedic Meditation requires no effort, no concentration, and no discipline to sustain. Once you have the technique, it's yours — for life.
Unlike guided apps or generic practices, you receive a mantra selected for you personally. This is the mechanism the mind uses to settle naturally — effortlessly, without concentration.
Vedic Meditation asks nothing of you. No focusing, no visualising, no clearing the mind. The mind settles on its own. That's not a metaphor — it's what the physiology actually does.
Rich teaches the neuroscience behind the practice alongside the technique itself. Understanding why it works accelerates the benefits and makes you far more likely to continue.
A follow-up check-in 2 weeks after completion, and continuing access to Rich as your life and practice evolve. The relationship doesn't end at session five.

The structure
Four sessions to learn and establish the technique, plus a fifth check-in 2 weeks later to confirm everything is settled. Group courses run across one weekend; private courses flex across 2 or 4 days. By the final session you're practicing independently — with ongoing support as your practice grows.
You receive your own mantra and learn the effortless technique in a relaxed, private setting. Your first sitting — and the beginning of everything.
Saturday · 11:30am–1:00pmWe review your first sitting, refine the mechanics, and begin exploring how to weave meditation into daily life without effort or discipline.
Saturday · 2:00–3:30pmUnderstanding the body's stress mechanics and the role deep rest plays in restoring nervous system balance. Why this works — and why most other approaches don't.
Sunday · 10:30am–12:00pmRefinement, integration, and the long view. You leave with complete confidence in your independent practice — and Rich's ongoing support as life evolves.
Sunday · 1:00–2:30pmTwo weeks after sessions 1–4, you and Rich meet briefly to review how the practice is settling. Any questions, refinements, or early observations get addressed here.
2 weeks later · 20 minWhy it works
Research led by Dr. Robert Wallace — and supported by decades of subsequent studies — shows that during Vedic Meditation the body reaches a state of physiological rest two to five times deeper than sleep, measured by oxygen consumption and metabolic rate.
This isn't relaxation. It's a physiologically distinct state that allows stress to unwind at its root — not managed, not coped with, but actually released. From here the nervous system resets, and the capacity for wellbeing, clarity, and performance naturally expands.
Vedic Meditation reduces metabolic rate two to five times more than sleep — creating the conditions for genuine restoration that most people never access.
— Wallace, R.K. (1970). Science, 167(3926)Reactivity, overwhelm, fatigue, disrupted sleep. The stress response runs continuously — even when there's no acute threat.
↓The body enters a profoundly restful state. Oxygen consumption drops. Accumulated stress begins to unwind physiologically, at its root.
↓Sleep improves. Reactivity softens. A quality of ease begins to appear that doesn't depend on circumstances.
↓Clarity, energy, resilience. A sense of self that's no longer contingent on keeping everything under control. This is what consistent practice builds over time.
What changes
These aren't promises — they're the reproducible outcomes of 20 minutes twice a day, practiced consistently. Most people feel the first shifts within a week.
Not managed or coped with — but actually released. The body physiologically unwinds accumulated tension during each sitting. The effect compounds with consistent practice.
The practice calms the nervous system so completely that sleep onset improves and night-waking decreases — often within the first week of starting.
Thinking becomes clearer. Decisions come with less rumination. Mental fog lifts. Most people notice this within two to four weeks of consistent practice.
Reactions soften. The space between stimulus and response widens. You still feel everything — but from a more grounded, stable place. Gradually, then noticeably.
When stress stops draining the system, energy is freed. Most people need noticeably less caffeine within three to six weeks. The energy is quieter — and more reliable.
The nervous system governs immunity, blood pressure, mood, digestion. Calming it consistently creates a ripple well beyond the 20 minutes you sit twice a day.

Common questions
Do I need any experience with meditation?
None at all. The technique is taught from scratch and requires no prior knowledge or practice. In fact, people who have never meditated before often find it easier — there are no habits to undo.
How is this different from apps like Headspace or Calm?
Apps teach mindfulness — a practice of focused attention that requires ongoing effort and concentration. Vedic Meditation is effortless by design. You receive a personal mantra and a technique that allows the mind to settle naturally, without trying. It's a fundamentally different mechanism.
What if I can't clear my mind?
Clearing the mind is not the goal — and in Vedic Meditation it's not required. Thoughts are a natural part of the process. The technique works regardless of how busy your mind is. The idea that some people can't meditate usually comes from trying techniques that ask you to suppress thoughts. This one doesn't.
How are the sessions structured — do they need to happen on specific days?
It depends on the format. Group courses run across one Saturday and Sunday — two sessions each day. Saturday: 11:30am–1:00pm and 2:00–3:30pm. Sunday: 10:30am–12:00pm and 1:00–2:30pm. Private courses are completely flexible — you and Rich arrange timing that suits you, across either 2 days (intensive) or 4 days (more spread out). Session 5, the check-in, is a separate 20-minute session that happens 2 weeks after sessions 1–4.
Is this related to Transcendental Meditation (TM)?
Vedic Meditation comes from the same ancient Vedic tradition and uses the same core technique as TM. It's taught independently — outside the TM organisation — which makes it significantly more accessible in terms of cost and availability, while the technique itself remains the same.
What happens after the course ends?
You practice twice daily on your own — 20 minutes each session, sitting comfortably with eyes closed. A follow-up check-in with Rich happens 2 weeks after the course. After that, you have ongoing access to Rich for questions as your practice and life evolve. There are no ongoing fees or subscriptions.
Can I do this if I'm going through a difficult time?
Yes — and many people come to this course at exactly those moments. Vedic Meditation is particularly effective during periods of stress, transition, or health challenges. Rich has worked with people navigating serious illness, grief, burnout, and major life changes. The discovery call is a good place to discuss your specific situation.
A 20-minute call to understand where you are, answer your questions honestly, and work out whether this is the right fit — for you, right now. No pressure. No script.
